A family recently came to Good Shepherd Housing needing help to prevent their gas from being turned off. While the wife was working, the family had had some recent struggles as the husband had not had just one stroke, but two recently. With mounting healthcare bills, and the husband not able to work as he recovered, bill payments slipped, and the family faced a shutoff of their utility.

The family came to GSH, where our Emergency Services Coordinator, Patricia Lopez O’Relly, was able to step in and prevent the disconnect. The family recently wrote to Patricia with their heartfelt thanks, as well as their hope that the staff at GSH would be able to continue to help all of the residents of Fairfax County in their times of need. We are so grateful for the support of our partners and donors that allow us to assist families who are facing such challenges.
